On October 25, 2018, His Excellency Wang Baodong, Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Tonga met with Hon. Lord Fakafanua, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga and handed over the assistance grant China provides for the event of Tonga Youth Parliament.

Ambassador Wang said that youth is the future of Tonga and taht of China-Tonga relations, and the Chinese side is happy to provide assistance to the event of Tonga Youth Parliament. He believed that the event is helpful for promoting the development of Tongan youth and contributing to the friendly relations between China and Tonga.

Lord Fakafanua expressed gratitude for China’s assistance. He said that the grant is a good example of the friendly relations of cooperation between Tonga and China and it is very meaningful for enhancing the capacity building and national development of Tonga. Tonga looks forward to strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ legislatures and constantly moving forward the relations between the two countries.
