Ambassador Wang Baodong Attends the Welcome-home Ceremony for Tongan Athletes Trained in China

On 1st February, at the invitation of Tongan Ministry of Internal Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Wang Baodong attended the Welcome-home Ceremony for Tongan Athletes Trained in China and joined in the friendship games of badminton and table tennis. Hon. Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Tui Uata, officials from the Ministry and heads of the various Tongan Sports Federations were present.

Ambassador Wang in his speech congratulated the Tongan athletes on their smooth completion of training in China and wished them a great success in the 2019 Pacific Games.

On behalf of the Tongan side, Hon. Uata was highly appreciative of the Chinese Government for the support to Tongan sports and the top-ranking training opportunity, stating that after the two-month training in China, the Tongan athletes had not only improved their skills and technique, but also experienced in person China's great development achievements and the hospitality and friendship of the Chinese people. He believed that the Tongan players would have an outstanding performance in the coming-up Pacific Games.

The China-aid Sports Technical Cooperation Project to Tonga will last for three years and 105 Tongan athletes, as the first batch of the whole project, finished their training in China at the end of January.
