King and Queen of Tonga Visited the Chinese Embassy

Their Majesties King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u of the Kingdom of Tonga visited the Ambassador’s residence at the invitation of His Excellency Huang Huaguang, Chinese Ambassador to Tonga. The two sides had an in-depth exchanges of view on deepening cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, fishery, tourism, civil aviation and other fields between China and Tonga. Counsellor Chen Tie were present at the meeting.

Ambassador Huang expressed gratitude to Their Majesties and the royal family of Tonga for their support to the China-Tonga relations. He briefed Their Majesties on Tonga’s export of squash to China, facilitation of personnel exchanges, China-aid project, cooperation in civil aviation and other progress. Ambassador said that China is willing to work with Tongan side to constantly promote the bilateral relations.

His Majesty King Tupou VI was happy about Tonga’s export of squash to China. He believed that the export was conducive to expanding export of Tonga and increase Tonga’s employment and farmers’ income. His Majesty thanked the experts of China’s agricultural group for spreading the advanced technology and welcome more Chinese tourists and Chinese companies to visit or invest in Tonga. He said that Tonga is ready to make joint efforts in expanding export of Tonga’s agricultural products to China, opening direct flight between the two countries as early as possible and deepening cooperation in tourism and other fields to bring benefits to the two peoples.
